Video Journalist, BBC Turkish Service
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.
We are looking for a small team of video journalists who will be based in Turkey and will work closely with our London operation, reporting to Senior Broadcast Journalists.
The main focus of our Video Journalists role will be to create interesting and engaging video content for different platforms. You will help us tell the stories of people and events in Turkey, giving them context in the wider global news agenda and making them relevant to an ever growing digital audience.
You will be required to initiate, gather and produce material for news, current affairs and general programming across multiple platforms. Using your editorial judgement you will ensure that our journalism remains accurate and impartial.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced Video Journalist with the ability to work independently; somebody who can research, plan, shoot and edit video content for a variety of platforms. You will have a strong understanding of what good digital video looks like, including an awareness of the different ways Turkish audiences engage with video on different platforms. Experience in motion graphics software such as Adobe After Effect, is advantageous.
Finally, you will be fluent in Turkish and English, both written and spoken and will have the ability to translate between the two languages.
