BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.
The BBC Nepali Service is one of the services in Global News Languages with a multi-platform website having text, photos, video and audio content. The service’s output aims to serve Nepali-speaking audience in Nepal and worldwide. BBC Nepali is a major player in Nepali media market and trusted source of domestic and international news delivered on radio, social and digital formats. BBC Nepali Service aims to make international news relevant to Nepali audience, and bring international perspectives to bear on Nepali and global developments.
As the service is investing heavily in digital innovation in a challenging market we are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work as a Video Journalist in our Kathmandu bureau.
This is a unique opportunity to join our Kathmandu bureau as a Video Journalist. The successful candidate will understand the editorial need, technical requirements and workflow across BBC World Service and BBC News with a sound eye for content accuracy.
Your main responsibilities will include to reversion content for different services and different digital platforms. Other responsibilities will include; to edit and produce engaging video content for multiple outlets and digital platforms in Nepali, making sure content is reversionable, to record video interviews and other types of original contents as required, ensuring the best standards of video production are set and adhered to.

The Ideal Candidate
A full command and up to date knowledge of written and spoken Nepali as first (or equivalent) language and very good English.
The successful candidate will understand the language of digital newsgathering and be able to produce, shoot and edit material, delivering highly shareable and engaging content. In addition, you will have strong technical skills, in filming and editing, combined with an editorial background. You will be happy working on your own projects as well as with others in the teams.
