Senior Project Manager, BBC Global News Ltd
BBC Global News Ltd brings together the BBC World News television channel, bbc.com/news and bbc.com/sport, and BBC Features sites (bbc.com/culture, bbc.com/future etc) as part of the BBC News Group family. BBC Global News Ltd.’s ambition is to maximise the quality of BBC News outside of the UK, focusing on delivering a commercially funded, but public service driven, news business. The Digital department works closely with colleagues across the BBC and leads delivery of the BBC Global News Ltd.’s services across four screens - Desktop, Tablet, Mobile and Interactive TV platforms. The Digital Team reports to the Digital Director and consists of product managers, architects, project managers, software engineers and test engineers.
The senior project manager will work closely with product owners and business stakeholders to agree project objectives and ensure effective delivery of high quality commercialised digital products. They will manage multiple complex digital projects and be responsible for removing obstacles or blockers to progress and facilitate project meetings with the team where required.
The role will define objectives, plan resources and budgeting as well as track, co-ordinate and manage specific key strategic projects. Reporting on both a high level and at a more detailed level is required.
The Ideal Candidate
This position will need you to be comfortable managing multiple project teams (monitoring progress, managing risk and resource). The role will necessitate working closely with stakeholders across News, Sport and the wider BBC, and excellent communication and inter-personal skills are key requirements; as is the ability to bridge domain specialism and business through user-friendly language.
Expertise in agile development processes will be highly desirable. Experience of project management and collaboration tools are desired.
Knowledge of the BBC and/or media sector is desired, but not required for this role.
