Senior Producer (Multimedia) - Moscow
The Russian Service is one of the largest language services in the BBC World Service. It has a 24/7 multiplatform website and a large amount of video, interactive and audio content including two radio programmes. Its staff is mostly located in London and Moscow, and a large part of the output is from the Moscow bureau.
The service’s output aims to make international news relevant to a Russian audience, and bring international perspectives to bear on Russian and FSU developments. It aims to report in a lively and engaging fashion, and interactivity, promotion of content on social media and social newsgathering form a large part of its activities across all platforms
To lead a team of Producers (multimedia), field producers and reporters as required
To desk edit the multiplatform material, ensuring that output conforms to the highest editorial and production standards; is lively and interesting and of relevance to the target area; and that BBC’s editorial guidelines are adhered to
To oversee coverage so that all stories are reported in a multimedia way. Working alongside Editors and other Senior Producers (multimedia), to act as a point of editorial reference, providing editorial leadership as required
To work closely with colleagues in Moscow and the team in London to ensure a seamless transition between teams, to contribute to the planned coverage of upcoming stories and to ensure 360 degree commissioning
Subbing online, audio and video stories; making suggestions on deployments and commissions
Assisting colleagues with team development and performance management; helping with the training for junior members of the team as required; line-managing Producers (multimedia)

The Ideal Candidate
A strong understanding of business and economic news in the target area
You will have a full command and up to date knowledge of Russian (first or equivalent)
Excellent written Russian and ability to use language to tell a story effectively
Be fluent in English, both in written and spoken form with the ability to communicate effectively
Recent experience as a broadcast or online/print journalist
Ability to write, edit text, adapt and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences
Able to demonstrate strong analytical skills to include working with data and Excel
A good network of contacts among economic and business newsmakers
Excellent general knowledge of and interest in international and British current affairs, particularly insofar as they affect the target area.
Extensive knowledge of the media situation in the Russia-speaking world and how it is developing. Understanding of the partner opportunities in the market and experience of liaising effectively with partners, providing BBC with useful information
Experience of supervising staff with the ability to assist in training and development is highly desirable
Contract: 12 month contract with the possibility of being made permanent
