Senior Journalist - BBC Arabic Xtra TV
BBC Arabic is the largest BBC language service, providing news, current affairs and programmes on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The output is modern in style and outlook and adheres to BBC values of accuracy and impartiality. It has broad appeal, free from commercial, political and religious affiliations or pressures.
We are now looking for a Senior Journalist for BBC Arabic Xtra TV to join our team in Beirut.
You will work to the Series Producer of the show working with a team of Journalists in shaping content for BBC Arabic, both digitally and on TV. You will work as part of the editorial team responsible for carrying out the main editorial, managerial and administrative tasks, ensuring output conforms to BBC Editorial Guidelines. You'll oversee production work ensuring our output is lively and interesting and of relevance to the target area. Working to the Arabic Programme Editor, you'll together act as a point of editorial reference, providing editorial leadership as required.
The Ideal Candidate
Extensive experience of live TV/radio journalism is essential along with a clear understanding of digital & interactive journalism. You'll need a proven ability to lead and motivate teams of journalists and other staff with proven experience of making difficult editorial decisions under pressure. You'll need to be fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English. Knowledge of youth problems and hopes in the region and a strong interest and knowledge of regional and international news is also essential.
