Senior Broadcast Journalist (Social Media), BBC Russian Service

BBC World Service Group is an international multimedia broadcaster, delivering a wide range of language and regional services on radio, TV, online with a big focus on mobile.

The BBC Russian Service is looking for a Senior Broadcast Journalist to join us in London on a continuing contract.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to Editor, Social Media Russian Service, you will work with the management of Russian Service to maximize the impact of the Service journalism on social media.

You will generate and implement creative ideas leading to expanding our presence on social platforms as well as use them as broadcasting tool. You will also share your knowledge with colleagues to help their development and improve the overall usage of the changing social media environment.

The Ideal Candidate

With excellent social media experience, solid editorial judgement and the ability to use social media creatively to reach our audiences, you will have a broad understanding of social media and the Service the editorial offer. You will find ways to adapt the offer in different formats and practices on social in ways that enhance reach, grow traffic and empower the BBC Russian brand. This includes excellent knowledge of main global and regional social media platforms and deep understanding of how messengers become the channel of news distribution and community building.

You must have substantial experience in journalism with focus on the web/social media and the ability to demonstrate an excellent understanding of Russian news and current affairs as well as excellent communication skills, in English and Russian.

Grade 8 

Contract: Continuing

Location: London

Salary up to £48,536 per annum (inclusive of all allowances)
