Senior Broadcast Journalist (Planning), Arabic Newsgathering
BBC Arabic is the largest BBC language service, providing news, current affairs and programmes on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. We are looking for a Senior Broadcast Journalist to join the team in London on a continuing contract.
Reporting to the Planning Editor, your role is to plan coverage and specific story projects and commission stories from Arabic Reporters and Stringers as required. You will assist the Arabic Newsgathering, Planning and Assignment Editors in planning next day or longer term coverage, booking two-ways and packages from Reporters in the field and a range of related tasks. You will also work closely with Reporters and Producers, gathering advice on stories and coverage and providing support to the newsroom. You will be involved in planning special events and commissioning news and feature stories.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a fluent Arabic speaker and writer, with an excellent command of English. You will have substantial experience as a journalist in a senior role with a full understanding of the editorial aims of BBC News output. Experience of planning is essential. Strong knowledge of Arabic and international news stories and issues, as well as forthcoming news events especially in the Gulf region and Iran is important. You will have sound knowledge of social media platforms and its role in news.

The maximum salary for this role is £55,000 inclusive of allowances
