Senior Broadcast Journalist (Multimedia), BBC Hindi Service
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels. As part of a historic and exciting expansion, the BBC World Service is introducing four new language services serving audiences in India – Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu – to work alongside two existing services, BBC Hindi and BBC Tamil.
All six Indian language services will be based predominantly in the BBC’s Delhi bureau, working closely and collaboratively with all teams in that office and with teams in the BBC’s headquarters in London to deliver the best service for BBC audiences.
We are looking for Senior Broadcast Journalists, Multimedia, to join the Hindi service based in Delhi. Local terms and conditions apply.
Reporting to the Hindi Service Editor, your role is to oversee a team of Broadcast Journalists in shaping on-the-day content for BBC Hindi both digitally and on TV. You are expected to ensure our output meets editorial standards and is engaging and relevant to the audience. You will think of new and creative treatments for digital and social platforms, monitoring social trends in India and South Asia.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have a full command of Hindi (written and spoken) and a high level of English. You will have a journalistic background in a senior role, with experience of leading and developing a team. An excellent broadcasting voice and reporting skills is essential. You will have knowledge of international current affairs and issues affecting the target region. A demonstrable interest in working in a multimedia environment is important.
