Senior Broadcast Journalist, Digital Video - BBC Russian

BBC Russian Service is one of the largest of the BBC's language services. With a growing audience, it broadcasts on TV and via the internet and has an active social media presence.

The service’s output aims to make international news relevant to the Russian-speaking audiences and bring international perspectives on Russian and FSU developments. It aims to report in a lively and engaging fashion.

The BBC Russian Service's Moscow Bureau is looking for a Senior Producer (Digital Video) to join the team on a continuing contract.

Role Responsibility

As Senior Producer (Digital Video), you will work to the Russian service Editor (Digital Video) and support the expansion of digital video on BBC Russian Service website and social media accounts.  You will assume responsibility for the Russian Service digital video output in Moscow when s/he is on duty, and will be charged with ensuring the coherence of the output.

We want all our digital material to be interesting but also compliant with strict BBC Editorial Guidelines.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an editor with extensive digital media experience, able to react quickly to the changing news landscape, take balanced editorial decisions and suggest bold ideas on producing digital videos. You must have good understanding of dynamics of the Russian segment of the internet, solid knowledge of Russian and international current affairs as well as experience of working in a creative environment and leading the team of digital video producers.

You must demonstrate excellent digital video producing skills, be able to react to breaking news quickly, oversee a moving story, produce, edit and sub-edit digital video material as required. You must ensure that BBC Russian Service's digital video output conforms to the highest editorial and production standards; is lively and interesting and of relevance to the target area.

You must act as a point of editorial reference for digital video producers and correspondents, help them to choose the right digital format for the story, and provide editorial leadership.

We expect the successful candidate to be familiar with the Russian-speaking world and have an in-depth understanding of news and current affairs, history, politics, economics, social issues and culture, as well as the media situation and how it is developing.
