Production Coordinator (World Service Languages)
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.
As a Production Coordinator for the Americas Hub, you'll provide production support to the teams of BBC Mundo and BBC Brasil. With their main headquarters in London, both Services work closely and collaboratively with their overseas bureaux (Miami, Sao Paulo) to deliver the best service for BBC audiences in Spanish and Portuguese.
You'll provide day to day support for the production team. This will involve contributing to scheduling, budgeting, payments and other support functions the team require, as well as maintaining a wide range of internal and external contacts from across the BBC. Other duties include efficient coordination of staffing, accurate recording of information, all round administrative support, and being aware and able to identify and escalate risks. You may also need to support other internal departments, and are encouraged to seek new ways of working proactively.
The Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrates strong organisational and planning skills and manages conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
- Experience of influencing and motivating others to achieve results.
- Essential business and finance skills - able to prepare, manage and/or monitor specific production resource plans and budgets
- Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective relations with a wide range of contacts
- Numeracy, accuracy and reliability in keeping records and files.
Grade: 5 / Proposed grade: B
6 month attachment/fixed term contract. Employees must seek the approval of their manager before applying for an attachment.
