News Producer, BBC Ukrainian
The Ukrainian Service is one of 40 language services in the BBC World Service. It has a multiplatform website and a large amount of video, interactive and audio content. Most of the team are located in Kiev, with a few Multimedia Producers and Broadcast Journalists in London.
The services output aims to make international news relevant to the Ukrainian audience, and bring international perspectives to bear onUkrainian developments. It aims to report in a lively and engaging fashion, and interactivity forms a large part of its content across all platforms.
We are looking for a first class news journalist, to work with a team of journalists writing news, comments and articles for the Internet. On a daily basis, you will report to the Editor of BBC Ukrainian, as well as the Senior Producer/Desk Editor/Duty whether in Kiev, or London as appropriate. The News Producer is nominated for the position and dismissed in accordance with Ukrainian working legislation.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a first-class journalist, with a full command and up to date knowledge of Ukrainian (as a first or equivalent language), along with a good knowledge ofwritten and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively. Excellent translation skills are essential.You will have strong news journalism skills with sound editorial judgement. You will need a proven knowledge of the Ukrainian political scene and an excellentknowledge of national and international affairs. Good writing skills are essential, with the flexibility to adapt with accuracy and clarity to styles appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media. You will need a strong knowledge of the Internet and of web-publishing.
