Marketing Manager - Ad Sales
BBC Global News (“GN”) is the commercial arm of the BBC’s international News network and is responsible for BBC World News and BBC.com/news.
Advertising accounts for a major part of BBC Global News’ revenues and The Ad Sales Marketing team play a vital role in supporting the sales team to deliver commercial success.
Working closely with our stakeholders in sales, we use a variety of marketing activity to bring the World News and bbc.com brands to life for our agency and client audience -communicating the strength of the product, value of the audience and power of our advertising platform.
This role will play an integral role in the team by supporting the sales team responsible for Europe (excluding the UK) and Africa.
Reporting to the Vice President Marketing & Insight, Global and EMEA, your main responsibly will be the development and delivery of the Europe (ex UK) and Africa Ad Sales marketing plan. Working closely with your stakeholders in the sales team, you will identify and deliver marketing solutions to help them drive the commercial success of the business.
You’ll manage of a number of different individual projects concurrently – including events, B2B campaigns, consumer campaigns and promo production – ensuring cost effectiveness and delivery of activity within allocated budgets.
You will work closely with the rest of the Ad Sales Marketing team (including teams in our international offices) to ensure there is a collaborated approach to all projects and that where possible, activity can be leveraged pan-regionally.
You’ll also work closely with the wider marketing team. That means working with Audience Insights to ensure all marketing activity is based on business and consumer insight, Consumer Marketing to leverage existing campaigns and Distribution Marketing team to coordinate and align B2B marketing approach.
The Ideal Candidate
As the ideal candidate for this role you will have significant experience in B2B marketing, preferably with a media owner or in the media/creative industry. You will have worked directly with advertising sales teams and be able to use effective marketing solutions to help them deliver commercial success.
You’ll have first rate experience of consumer marketing, from brief writing through to campaign delivery, and you’ll have a strong understanding of how effective brand communications can drive positive business outcomes.
Stakeholder management is a key part of this role and as the ideal candidate your negotiation and influencing skills will mean you have the confidence to influence/gain buy-in from the sales teams and challenge requests and where relevant.
We are a global team and therefore experience of working in a position with an international remit is preferable.
