Freelance Reporters, BBC Arabic - Morocco
BBC Arabic is the largest BBC World Service language service, providing news and current affairs on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and beyond. The service is multi-media in operation for daily newsgathering and daily, weekly and long-term planning, whilst output streams are run by single media teams.
As a freelance reporter, you will supply timely, expert and authoritative coverage of news and current affairs events in Algeria and North Africa for TV, Radio and online in Arabic and English. You will broadcast in Arabic (and occasionally in English) on news topics and events and alert our Editors to breaking news stories. You will also provide contact numbers, interviewees and set up discussion programmes for BBC Arabic – therefore you will have a rich list of contacts and access to news makers.
The Ideal Candidate
Recent and relevant service provider experience as reporter and/or journalist is essential to this role and you will have a thorough current knowledge of national affairs together with an understanding of international affairs. We need your fluency in broadcast classical Arabic and English and authoritative microphone voice and camera skills. The demonstrable ability to produce two-ways and make radio and television packages and digital reports is also required.
Local salary, contract and conditions of service, based in Morocco.
These are freelance opportunities. This work will be on an ad hoc basis to cover for periods of staff shortage. Appointment to the pool will not entitle candidates to staff contracts in the BBC.
