Job Introduction

BBC Learning English is an award-winning department of the BBC World Service devoted to English language teaching. Role Responsibility

As part of a multimedia English Language Teaching (ELT) team of producers, and reporting to the Team Leader, you will originate research, prepare, produce and present English language teaching items, packages, interviews, discussions, complete programmes, and features, for radio, TV, the Internet and other media forms.  You will ensure that any programme material for which you are responsible is strongly audience and learner focused, and meets the standards required by the BBC.

Shift work may be required which could include nights, weekends and public holidays.

With a great understanding of differing global audiences and differing levels of English comprehension you will have the ability to write, adapt and edit ELT materials with accuracy, clarity and style suitable for broadcasting or online content.

In addition, you will need to have good interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to work collaboratively within a team and to motivate others. A good knowledge of and interest in, international and British current affairs as well as a thorough knowledge of the aims, objectives and standards of BBC World Service is also essential.
