Desk Editor - Vietnamese Service

It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 346 million globally, including shortwave, AM, FM, satellite, cable channels and digital platforms.
BBC Vietnamese Service, founded in 1952, has reached millions of unique viewers ever month thanks to its strong reporting about Vietnam and the Vietnamese in the world, key global stories and a prominent presence on social media.
As part of the World 2020 strategic development in Asia, the Vietnamese team in Bangkok is also expanding to strengthen our journalistic outputs for Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
The purpose of the Desk Editor in Bangkok will be to supervise a team of multimedia journalists in shaping on-the day content for the BBC Vietnamese service, mainly for digital outputs: online and social media. This person will be responsible for ensuring that what is being outputted is to the highest standard and make referrals on editorial decisions if needed to ensure that the content is relevant and adhering to the BBC standards. This is a crucial role for the Vietnamese service as this person will be significant across Bangkok and London and if need be oversee editorial decisions across both locations.
The Ideal Candidate
You must be an experienced journalist with a proven background in producing content for broadcasting across radio and online outlets. It is imperative that you have experience of leading on editorial judgement and decisions as you will be asked to provide examples of this. Also, it is essential that you have experience of supervising multimedia journalists and providing creative suggestions and input on content they have produced where needed
You must have excellent communication and leadership skills (written and spoken Vietnamese is essential and a good knowledge of English would be advantageous).
