Broadcast Journalist Multimedia - BBC Korean Service

Job Introduction

BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, delivering a wide range of language and regional services on radio, TV, online and social networks. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including shortwave, AM, FM, digital satellite and cable channels.

This is a role with BBC News Korean, a digital and radio service, tasked with reporting on the Korean Peninsula, the neighbouring countries and Koreans around the world. The service’s output delivers original stories across a range of topics, including science, technology, health, lifestyle, sport entertainment, culture, international politics and much more. Some of the best of BBC World Service’s international content is also made available in the Korean language.

Role Responsibility

The BBC Korean Service is recruiting for a multimedia Broadcast Journalist in London. We are a digital and radio broadcaster reporting on a range of topics on the Korean Peninsula, the neighbouring countries and Koreans around the world. We deliver original stories across a range of topics and make the best of BBC World Service’s international content available in Korean.

In this role you will be responsible for producing originating, preparing and presenting news stories, reports, packages, interviews, discussions, background analysis and features for radio and digital. You must be able to use social media both in Korean and English to search for original news sources for reporting. It is your responsibility to ensure that output material meets the Editorial standards required by the BBC.

The Ideal Candidate

Can you find amazing stories? Can you bring them to life for digital and radio? Do you speak and write fluent Korean?

Applicants must have first-hand experience in working in broadcast media relevant to either South or North Korean current affairs and excellent written and spoken language skills in the Korean language.

Package Description

Current Grade:  7                  

Contract: Continuing

Job Closing: 10th December 2017

Salary: £33,795 - £41,000

  • You are eligible to apply for this role if you are either on a BBC Continuing (Permanent) contract or a BBC Fixed Term contract.
