Broadcast Journalist (Multimedia), BBC Hindi Service
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels. As part of a historic and exciting expansion, the BBC World Service is introducing four new language services serving audiences in India Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu to work alongside two existing services, BBC Hindi and BBC Tamil.
All six Indian language services will be based predominantly in the BBCs Delhi bureau, working closely and collaboratively with all teams in that office and with teams in the BBCs headquarters in London to deliver the best service for BBC audiences.
We are looking for Broadcast Journalists, Multimedia, to join the Hindi service based in Delhi. Local terms and conditions apply.
Reporting to the Senior Broadcast Journalists and Hindi Service Editor, your role is to work across website, social platforms and TV programme to ensure that the highest quality content is created for our audiences, and make sure that content conforms to BBC editorial standards. You are expected to ensure our output meets editorial standards and is engaging and relevant to the audience. You will deliver powerful stories under pressure for a range of platforms including TV, online and social.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have a full command of Hindi (written and spoken) and a high level of English. You will have a journalistic background, with experience of leading and developing a team. An excellent broadcasting voice and reporting skills are essential. You will have knowledge of international current affairs and a keen interest in the developments in the digital market in India and South Asia. A demonstrable interest in working in a multimedia environment is important.
