Bilingual Reporter

Job Introduction

The BBC is an international multimedia broadcaster on radio, TV, online and social networks with a weekly global audience of 320 million. As part of a historic multi-million pound expansion of BBC Africa, the BBC World Service is introducing a wide range of new and exciting language and regional content to serve African and global audiences.

We are looking for a reporter with excellent spoken and written English and French to join the Africa Service and work across all platforms.

Role Responsibility

The Reporter will pace a crucial role providing timely, expert and authoritative coverage of news and current affairs events in Côte d’Ivoire and the surrounding regions and will advise teams on stories in the patch for wider BBC consumption. You will also be required to report for multiplatform outlets, including television, online and social media and radio.

As Reporter you will be required to travel within the target region and beyond on reporting trips, assignments and for training.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have an excellent command of English and French language (both written and spoken), with a strong journalistic and reporting background.  You must have a thorough knowledge of regional and international affairs.  You will have a strong broadcasting voice and a track record of accuracy and impartiality.  Experience of reporting in the field on issues in the target region is important.
