Advertising Performance Analyst, BBC Global News

Job Introduction

The Business Intelligence team is responsible for providing information and recommendations to the business which support and help challenge its commercial activities. This is achieved through the provision and analysis of data, as well as through regular communication with key stakeholders both within BBC Global News, the BBC group and the external market.

Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, this role will focus on providing insightful reporting by driving data warehousing and visualisation and supporting the BI Manager on various commercial strategy projects. It’s a full time position based in our London office with flexible working.

Role Responsibility

  • Maximize yield across Direct Digital sales by providing recommendations on deals
  • Work with sales teams to drive up CPM's and reduce reliance on added value and discounts
  • Proactively review rate cards and propose changes on a regular basis with leadership support
  • Analyze pricing performance data with internal business tools and identify revenue opportunities across region


Programmatic yield

  • Maximize yield by analyzing performance data across all programmatic transaction types and work with external programmatic partners to ensure best pricing point
  • Communicate recommendations and insights to sales directors across all EMEA markets in conjunction with the regional programmatic lead using internally sourced data along with externally facing tools such as Adomik
  • Continuous optimization of OMP floor price in all SSP's informed by running experiments to understand the commercial impact of variations
  • Creation and maintenance of international and local market programmatic rate card

Business support

  • Respond to and conduct commercial assessments for business needs such as the introduction of new ad formats and reviews of the existing ad portfolio’s performance against KPIs (e.g. STR, CTR, viewability…)

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proficiency working with big data sets and efficiently drawing out key insights
  • Comfortable and confident communicating insights to relevant stakeholders
  • Proactive problem solving and tenacity to implement change
  • Ability to navigate complex reporting systems
  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility on certain tasks and projects
  • Able to collaborate and build relationships with the immediate team and with colleagues in wider teams such as Sales, Operations and Finance
  • Experience in a data analytics role with an exceptional track record
  • Experience in management reporting, automation and business forecasting
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint
