The role of the Accountant will be to provide professional financial support to a range of stakeholders, effective control of financial processes and delivering operational excellence. This role will also contribute to the continuous improvement of finance and key BBC processes

Role Responsibility

  • Support the financial control framework for the division (eg. Balance Sheet reconciliations), helping implement changes to policies and processes where appropriate.
  • Support the implementation of the accounting policies across the division, and provide basic technical accounting support and guidance to the business.
  • Ensure the month end close for the division is completed accurately and on time, and identify, calculate and post any accounting adjustments in line with accounting standards and policies.
  • Ensure headcount for all regions and offices are reported accurately and in a timely manner for month end and budget/forecasting, along with full variance analysis and commentary.
  • Ensure all the monthly and quarterly internal financial reporting for the division is completed accurately and on time, collating commercial insights from the division’s Finance Business Partner (if applicable).
  • Support the Budget and Forecasting processes for the division, working with Financial Planning & Analysis to comply with GNL’s timetable and requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Significant experience of delivering a high quality accounting and reporting service.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence.
  • Ability to take complex data / principles and to communicate these in an understandable way to non SME's.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls.
  • Professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent, or significant experience i.e. qualified by experience
